Network/System Administrator (Net/Sys Admin) II

Target Salary Range*: $118,500 - $128,500

Position Overview

Organize, install, and support a government organization’s computer systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. Assist in architecting, designing, and analyzing network models and participate in hardware and software purchasing decisions to upgrade infrastructure. Provide technical support to computer users as needed.

Support Special Access Programs (SAPs) for Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including HQ Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and Military Compartments efforts. Provide day-to-day support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities.


Key Responsibilities

Systems and Network Operations

  • Perform day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks under supervision.

  • Manage COTS and GOTS products to collect, display, and remediate automated system security and operations/performance functions and metrics.

Operations and Maintenance Procedures

  • Follow daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain services.

  • Develop Tactics, Techniques and Processes (TTPs) and Standard Operating Processes (SOPs) associated with service checklists.

Security Monitoring and Incident Response

  • Operate monitoring tools and capabilities within the enterprise security information and event management (SIEM) system.

  • Create and tailor complex event alarms, rules, and summary reports.

  • Assist in analyzing technical risks associated with emerging cybersecurity tools and processes upon request.

  • Participate in a security incident response team as needed.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, associate’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or 7 years of total relevant experience in lieu of a degree. [Required]

Experience

  • 3–5 years of related experience. [Required]

  • SAP experience. [Required]

Skills

Working technical competency in one or more of the following supported platforms or areas:

  • Microsoft Windows Server, Windows Server 2012 R2/2016, Windows 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, and Red Hat 6.5.

  • Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware/ESX, and Xen hypervisors.

  • Enterprise networking, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

  • Forensic analysis and vulnerability assessment.

  • Group Policy management and configuration; scripting.

  • BMC FootPrints, WSUS, Lumension, BitLocker, and Microsoft Office Toolkits.

  • SIEMs, LogRhythm, and ACAS/Nessus/SCAP.

  • Mandatory and role-based access control concepts, including SELinux extensions to RHEL, PitBull, AppArmor, and Sentris.

  • Video teleconferencing and VoIP.

  • SQL Server 2012 and Oracle/Microsoft SQL database security.

  • Tomcat, IIS, and Apache/IIS web server security.

Certifications

  • IAT Level II. [Required]

Clearance

  • TS/SCI; must be willing to obtain a CI Poly. [Required]
