Amatriot is seeking an A589S Manpower Support - Position Description subject matter expert (SME) to support development of General Schedule (GS) and Government Grade (GG) position descriptions (PDs) within the Department of Defense, Plans, Programs and Requirement Directorate, United States Air Force.
The role provides foundational knowledge and guidance to help others develop accurate, clear, and concise PDs. It requires understanding the standards, federal laws, regulations, and submission context governing federal PDs to ensure accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and contextual understanding.
Location: Langley AFB, Hampton, VA, USA.
Develop clear, concise, and accurate federal PDs that comply with OPM standards, federal laws, and regulations.
Apply writing best practices to develop PDs using scenario-based input from A589 corporate subject matter expertise.
Associate degree or four (4) years of MAJCOM staff experience. [Required]
Three (3) years of staff experience through a combination of active duty, Government service, or contractor work in operations, staff functions, or a specific program or subject area within the A5/8/9 mission area being tasked. [Required]
Experience writing PDs for entry-level, career developmental, and supervisory positions and conducting position reviews to determine correct classification under OPM guidelines. [Required]
Experience reviewing Core Personnel Documents, preparing hierarchical and organizational charts, and preparing other required documentation. [Required]
Experience tracking and executing required manpower and personnel updates and incorporating them into appropriate data systems. [Required]
Experience entering personnel actions into automated programs for Requests for Personnel Action (RPAs) and other programs as required. [Required]
Minimum of 2–3 years of direct experience creating and writing PDs. [Required]
Secret clearance. [Required]
Core hours are 0800–1700, Monday–Friday; hours can be set with customer leadership.
Time may be flexed during the two-week pay cycle to avoid using PTO for appointments.
A compressed work schedule, such as 4/10 or 9/80, may be available at work center leadership’s discretion.
