Position Overview

The Test Engineer works in a fast-paced Agile environment to verify and validate system changes and advance modern testing practices. This role supports testing, configuration validation, and ongoing development of the ServiceNow platform, helping ensure successful delivery of digital transformation capabilities across ITIL processes and automated workflows.

The Test Engineer develops and executes test cases, supports automated testing through ServiceNow’s Automated Test Framework, performs regression and operational testing, documents results and defects, and collaborates with development, configuration, and customer teams throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Execution

• Ensure high-quality software delivery using Agile/Scrum testing practices.
• Analyze requirements and collaborate with technical leads to ensure implementations are testable.
• Translate functional requirements into effective test cases.
• Develop test plans, test data, acceptance criteria, and test procedures.
• Perform regression testing and validate full operational test scenarios.
• Support the Test Manager with test procedure development and execution.
• Test ServiceNow capabilities developed during each sprint.

Test Automation and ServiceNow Validation

• Create and maintain automated tests using ServiceNow’s Automated Test Framework.
• Support test data management and automated validation activities.
• Help define testable acceptance criteria for user stories.
• Validate ServiceNow configurations, workflows, and system changes.

Agile and DevOps Support

• Participate in sprint planning, sprint reviews, and other Agile activities.
• Use Jira to document testing progress, defects, and associated test activities.
• Support software configuration management activities and maintain an understanding of component interfaces.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary Agile, development, configuration, and operations teams.

Reporting, Traceability, and Customer Support

• Prepare test reports summarizing results, anomalies, defects, and configuration changes.
• Assist with maintaining validation portions of the Requirements Verification Traceability Matrix.
• Support customer demonstrations, test data preparation, and User Acceptance Testing activities.
• Mentor junior testers as needed.

Qualifications

Education

• Level IV: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 8–12 years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience. [Required]
• Level V: Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience. [Required]
• Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

• Experience with test data management and test automation. [Required]
• Experience with DevOps, continuous integration tools, and source control. [Required]
• Experience working in Agile software development and testing environments. [Required]

Skills

• Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into effective test cases and acceptance criteria.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. [Required]
• Ability to document test results, defects, anomalies, and validation activities clearly.

Clearance

• Active TS/SCI security clearance. [Required]

Other Requirements

• Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC. [Required]
• Ability to pass and maintain additional customer suitability screenings as required. [Required]

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of ServiceNow administration or configuration experience.
• Experience with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework.
• Experience with ServiceNow capabilities such as Discovery, Event Management, Service Mapping, scripting, custom applications, and workflows.
• Ability to analyze code and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Understanding of ITIL practices.
• ITIL certification.
• AWS cloud certifications.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies, Jira, and Confluence.
