Position Overview
The Network/System Administrator I will organize, install, and support government organization computer systems, including LANs, WANs, network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. The position will also assist with network architecture, design, and analysis; support infrastructure hardware and software upgrade decisions; and provide technical support to computer users. The role supports Special Access Programs (SAPs) for DoD agencies, including HQ Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and Military Compartments efforts, providing day-to-day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.
Key Responsibilities
Systems and Network Operations
- Operate under supervision.
- Execute day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks.
- Organize, install, and support LANs, WANs, network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems.
- Assist with architecting, designing, and analyzing network models.
- Support decisions regarding future hardware and software purchases to upgrade organizational infrastructure.
Systems Security and Monitoring
- Manage COTS and GOTS products to collect, display, and remediate automated system security and system operations/performance functions and metrics.
- Operate monitoring tools and capabilities with the enterprise SIEM.
- Create and tailor complex event alarms/rules and summary reports.
- Assist in analyzing technical risk, upon request, of emerging cybersecurity tools and processes.
- Work as part of a security incident response team as needed.
Operations and Maintenance
- Follow daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly O&M checklists to maintain the service.
- Build TTPs and SOPs associated with service checklists.
Technical Support
- Provide technical support to computer users to help resolve user problems.
Supported Platforms and Technologies
- Maintain working technical competency in one or more supported platforms, including:
- Microsoft Windows Server and Windows Server 2012 R2/2016.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, including Red Hat 6.5.
- MS Hyper-V, VMware/ESX, and Xen hypervisors.
- Enterprise networking, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Forensic analysis and vulnerability assessment.
- Group Policy management and configuration.
- Scripting.
- BMC Footprints, WSUS, Lumension, and BitLocker.
- SQL Server 2012, Tomcat, and IIS.
- Microsoft Office Toolkits.
- SIEMs and LogRhythm.
- ACAS/Nessus/SCAP.
- Mandatory and role-based access control concepts, including SELinux extensions to RHEL, PitBull, AppArmor, and Sentris.
- Video teleconferencing/VoIP.
- Oracle/MS SQL database security.
- Apache/IIS web server security.
Special Access Program Support
- Support activities within SAPs supporting DoD agencies, such as HQ Air Force, OSD, and Military Compartments efforts.
- Provide day-to-day support for Collateral, SCI, and SAP activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree or 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of degree [Required].
Experience
- 1–3 years of related experience [Required].

- TS/SCI clearance [Required].
- Must be willing to obtain a CI Poly [Required].
